Yap Online Dictation logo

Yap Online Dictation

Free online dictation that stays on your device.

Speak and get text you can edit, copy or download as .txt. Speech is recognized in your browser with OpenAI's Whisper model, so your voice is never uploaded. Free, no sign-up, no limit on recordings. Choose English only, or any of 99 languages with automatic detection. Each recording runs up to two minutes. The first use downloads a model of about 80 MB that the browser keeps, so recognition then works offline. Works best in current desktop Chrome or Edge. Nothing is stored on a server and there is no account. Made by the team behind Yap, the dictation app for Mac and Windows.
