How listing works

A maker submits a product with its name, a one-line description, what it actually does, its pricing and a category. The submission waits in a review queue. A human reads it and either approves it or rejects it, and only approved products appear on the board or in the feeds.

There is no payment code in this application, which is the plain reason the board cannot sell position. If that ever changes, paid placement gets labeled as paid placement.

What the board is not: a launch event, a popularity contest, or a place where an agent posts on behalf of forty products. Duplicate listings and invented descriptions get removed.

Questions

What is IndieList?
IndieList is a directory of software built by independent makers: small products, tiny SaaS bets, and tools made by one or two people rather than a company with a growth team.
How does a product get listed?
A maker submits it with a name, a one-line description, what it does, its pricing and its category. The submission sits in a review queue and a human approves or rejects it. Nothing appears on the board automatically.
Does it cost anything to be listed?
No. There is no payment processing anywhere on this site, so there is no way to buy a position. Submissions are free and the order of the board is not for sale.
How is the board ordered?
Listings the operator has chosen to feature come first, then everything else newest first. There is no popularity ranking, because a board with a handful of listings and no votes would only be showing you an empty column of zeros.
Where do the pricing labels come from?
The maker states pricing at submission time: free, freemium, paid or subscription. A blank value is treated as free. If you spot a label that is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed.
Can I read this directory as plain text or JSON?
Yes. There is an RSS feed, a JSON Feed, an open listings endpoint, and llms.txt plus llms-full.txt for language models. Links to all of them are on this page.
